About:
Marcus Glenn is a contemporary African American artist based in Detroit, Michigan, known for his vibrant, textured style and use of a signature technique called “Flat Life,” which gives his mixed media works a sculptural, three-dimensional quality. His art often combines acrylic paint, fabric, and paper on canvas to depict jazz musicians, romantic couples, and urban scenes with rhythmic movement and bold color.
Glenn’s work is heavily influenced by music—particularly jazz—and draws stylistic inspiration from Cubism and African American culture. He has been selected as an official artist for major events, including the 2014 Grammy Awards, and remains a prominent figure in modern figurative and musical art.
