About:
Csaba Markus is a Hungarian-American artist known for blending Renaissance-inspired portraiture with contemporary techniques. Born in Budapest in 1953, he emigrated to the United States in the 1970s, where he developed a unique style combining classical themes with modern materials and processes.
Markus is recognized for his use of serigraphy, especially on unconventional surfaces like wood and canvas, and for his richly detailed compositions featuring idealized female figures. His work draws from the aesthetics of the Old Masters while incorporating layered textures, vivid color, and gilded elements, establishing him as a prominent figure in contemporary figurative art.
