About the series:

Dale Chihuly, the renowned American glass artist, created a series of works titled "Persians" as part of his exploration of the beauty, complexity, and vibrant color of glass forms. The "Persians" series began in the mid-1980s and is one of Chihuly's most iconic collections, characterized by its bold, flowing forms and radiant colors. These pieces often resemble organic, flower-like structures or exotic shells, with swirling patterns and rich hues, giving them a distinctly ethereal and otherworldly appearance.

The name "Persians" was chosen to evoke a sense of mystery and exoticism, reflecting Chihuly’s admiration for ancient Near Eastern art and culture, particularly Persian glasswork and ceramics. The pieces in the series often have exaggerated, undulating rims and intricate spirals, creating a sense of movement and fluidity. Each piece is unique, showcasing Chihuly's signature style of blending vibrant colors, and intricate details, and pushing the limits of glass as an artistic medium.

The "Persians" series has been displayed in various exhibitions around the world, often arranged in stunning group installations that emphasize their dynamic shapes and vibrant colors. These installations sometimes feature the glass forms suspended from ceilings or arranged in intricate patterns, creating immersive environments that highlight the versatility and beauty of glass art.
