William Weege (American, 1935–2020) is known for innovative screen-printing and mixed-media techniques developed during the late 1960s and 1970s. Working in Wisconsin, he experimented with bold color, layered stencils, and unconventional materials to expand contemporary printmaking processes. Weege founded the Jones Road Print Shop and Stable, a collaborative workshop that produced large-scale prints and sculptural editions for a range of artists, including prominent Washington, D.C. Color School painter Sam Gilliam. His practice spans pop-influenced graphics, political imagery, and later abstract compositions, emphasizing handcrafted production and technical experimentation within American printmaking.
