About:
Ernst Wahliss was an important figure in late 19th and early 20th century Viennese ceramics, known for producing elaborate porcelain and earthenware through his association with the Stellmacher-led Amphora factory in Turn-Teplitz, Bohemia. Pieces attributed to Wahliss often exhibit ornate Art Nouveau motifs, high-relief decoration, and naturalistic subjects, particularly flora and fauna. Monumental vases featuring herons, swans, or exotic birds were hallmarks of the factory’s luxurious decorative output and are notable for their hand-painted details and sculptural modeling.
