Jeff Aeling (born 1958) is an American landscape painter recognized for his panoramic depictions of the Great Plains and Southwestern United States. Based in New Mexico, Aeling is known for his use of luminous light, vast horizons, and atmospheric perspective to capture the changing qualities of the sky and land. His technique often involves layered oil glazes that create depth and tonal subtlety, emphasizing the transient effects of weather and time. Aeling’s work bridges realism and contemporary landscape traditions, continuing the lineage of Western American painting with a focus on light, space, and solitude.
