About:
Anatole Krasnyansky is a Ukrainian-American artist known for his architectural compositions and surreal, mask-like figures. Born in Kiev in 1930, he trained in architecture and fine arts before immigrating to the United States in the late 1970s. His early work focused on European cityscapes, often rendered in watercolor, reflecting his background in architectural design.
After relocating to the U.S., Krasnyansky began developing a more abstract, symbolic style featuring theatrical characters and cultural motifs. He frequently worked in watercolor and mixed media, combining structural precision with expressive color and form. His art bridges Old World influence with contemporary expressionism, reflecting themes of identity, transformation, and cultural duality.
