Salvador Dalí (1904–1989) was a Spanish surrealist artist known for his imaginative and eccentric works. Born in Figueres, Catalonia, Dalí's art is characterized by dreamlike imagery, precise draftsmanship, and symbolic motifs such as melting clocks, distorted figures, and landscapes. He was influenced by the theories of Sigmund Freud and the subconscious mind, which shaped his exploration of surrealism. Dalí's most famous work, The Persistence of Memory (1931), reflects his fascination with time and the unconscious. Beyond painting, he also worked in film, sculpture, and photography, collaborating with artists like Luis Buñuel and Alfred Hitchcock. Dalí's flamboyant personality and distinctive mustache became as iconic as his art.
